Installing the CPU
Before you proceed make sure that there is no CPU installed in the CPU socket. Follow the steps below to install a CPU:
1Locate the CPU socket on your mainboard.
2Raise the socket lever up to a 90° angle.
3Remove the processor from its protective packaging.
4Insert the new CPU into the CPU socket (1 and 2). Make sure that pin 1 (indicated by a notched corner) of the CPU connects to hole 1 of the socket.
Press down the socket lever to lock the new CPU into the socket (3).
5Attach one side of the heatsink metal bracket to the CPU socket
(5) and then gently press down the other side of the metal bracket
(6) until it locks into place (7).
