Notes: 1. Assigning a dedicated spare does not reserve space on that drive. Therefore, an automatic restore is not guaranteed if a disk fails. If a disk does fail, you must make room on the disk for the fail-over to complete, or you must assign a differ- ent disk with enough room. If a dedicated spare is assigned and a drive fails, the restore process starts automatically if there is enough space available on the dedicated spare.

.You cannot assign a dedicated spare while a task is running on the array.

.When you assign a dedicated spare either while creating or transforming an array, the first drive you select to create the array is assigned by default as the dedicated spare.

.When you add a dedicated spare after the array has been created, you can select which disk to use as the spare.

.For more information see “About Sparing Options”.
