Connecting a modem

Apple offers optional, low-power, internal fax/data modems for your PowerBook. See the modem manual for information about your modem.

You can also connect an external modem to any of the following:

mthe printer/modem port on the PowerBook

mthe modem port on a Duo MiniDock

mthe modem port on a Duo Dock

To connect an external modem, follow these steps.

1Make sure the computer is in sleep or shut down.

2Connect the modem to a power source and to the phone line.

See the documentation that came with the modem.

3Make sure the modem is turned off.

4Connect the modem cable to the printer/modem port (PowerBook) or the modem port (Duo Dock or Duo MiniDock).

5Turn on the modem.

6Wake or restart the computer.

If your computer does not have an internal modem, the external modem is ready to use.

If your computer does have an internal modem, continue with step 7.
