Appendix A: Application Updates

The Application Update feature enables you to update the EVR1500 environmental monitor appliance with the latest version of the system Java JAR file. To perform this update, you will need an FTP or HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) server to store the new file.

To update the JAR file:

1.Verify that the updated JAR file is located on an FTP or HTTP server and determine the exact directory address and filename of the file.

2.After launching the web GUI, click System - Application Update. The Application Update window displays.

3.Visit the Avocent web site at http://www.avocent.com/support to obtain the updated Avocent.JAR file.

4.Click the URL field in the Application Update window and type the URL of the JAR file. For example:

FTP://USERID:PASSWORD@192.168.1.10/

EVR1500/Softwaredownloads/Avocent.JAR

NOTE: You must supply a user ID and password that is valid for the FTP server on 192.168.1.10.

5.Click the Load button. Wait for a message indicating that the file has downloaded successfully.
