2 MPX1000 Extender Installer/User Guide
media module, digital audio, if present, takes priority over analog audio. Only a single stream of
audio will be processed by the transmitter. Audio will be output at the receiver in the same manner
as it was input by the transmitter.

Control

The product supports both RS232 and infrared control of source and display devices. These control
ports are located on the main chassis of the MPX1000 transmitter and receiver. Thus, they are
permanent rather than field-installable. Every MPX1000 extender has both an IR receiver and an IR
emitter. IR strings are passed across the transmitter/receiver link, making it possible to control
source devices while standing at a display device, and vice-versa. A loopback function also makes
it possible to control devices locally from either side of the extension network. Likewise, bi-
directional transmission of RS232 signals allows device management across the extension network.
