Aspect Ratio The ratio of the video display’s width to its height. The two common aspect ratios used for video displays are 16:9 (1.78:1), also known as “widescreen”, and 4:3 (1.33:1), also known as “standard”.

CRT The Cathode Ray Tube is the original analog technology used in video displays. It is still used today in both direct-view displays as well as front and rear projection systems. Component A video signal using three separate video components, for example RGB or YPbPr. Component signals may be either Interlaced or Progressive.

Composite An Interlaced video signal that combines brightness (black-and-white) information together with color information. Performance is reduced compared to Component video or S-Video, as the video signals cannot be perfectly separated again as required by the display device.
