Installing additional memory

Turn off the printer power switch, and then unplug the printer. Disconnect the interface cable from
the p r i n ter.

Caution
Make sure you turn the printer OFF before you install or remove the DIMM.

Remove the side cover. Use a coin to loosen the two screws, and then remove the metal plate.

Unpack the DIMM and hold it by the edges.
Caution
DIMM boards can be damaged by even a s mall amount of static elect ricity. Do not touch the memory
chips or the board surf ace. Wear an anti static wrist s trap when you install or remove the board. If you
do not have an antistatic wrist strap, frequently touch the bare metal on the printer.
■Additional memory is useful and may be necessary if you are using the Page Protection function.

■You have to expand the printer memory by adding a DIMM to use the FTP/IPP protocol.
