Troubleshooting Guide

The camera makes a noise when it is shaken.

The built-in flash’s pop-up mechanism moves slightly. This is normal and not a malfunction.

The shutter makes two shooting sounds during Live View shooting.

If you use flash, the shutter will make two sounds each time you shoot (p.135).

During Live View and movie shooting, a white <s> or red <E> icon is displayed.

It indicates that the camera’s internal temperature is high. If the white <s> icon is displayed, the still photo’s image quality may deteriorate. If the red <E> icon is displayed, it indicates that the Live View or movie shooting will soon stop automatically (p.151, 177).

Movie shooting stops by itself.

If the card’s writing speed is slow, movie shooting may stop

automatically. Use an SD Speed Class 6 “ ” or faster card. To find out the card’s reading/writing speed, refer to the card manufacturer’s Web site, etc.

If a movie clip’s file size reaches 4 GB or the shooting length reaches 29 min. 59 sec., the movie shooting will stop automatically.

The ISO speed cannot be set for movie shooting.

If [Z1: Movie exposure] is set to [Auto], the ISO speed will be set automatically. If [Manual] is set, you can set the ISO speed manually (p.156).
