Print Quality Problems

The print quality is not what you expect; print is not clear, has missing dots or white streaks.

QAre the size, thickness and type of the paper you are using within the specifications of the machine?

ACheck that the paper you are using is supported by the specifications of the machine. (See "Print Media Requirements," on p. 2-1.)

QIs the cartridge installed correctly?

AMake sure the cartridge is installed correctly. (See "Install cartridge," in the Set-Up Sheet.)

QIs any toner left in the cartridge?

ASee "When to Replace the Cartridge," on p. 8-3, and replace the cartridge if necessary. (See "Replacing the Cartridge," on p. 8-6.)

QIs the exposure adjusted correctly?

AAdjust the exposure correctly using [Exposure]. (See "Adjusting the Exposure (Density)," on p. 5-3.)

Copies are dirty.

QIs the platen glass or the platen glass cover clean?

AClean the platen glass or the platen glass cover. (See "Cleaning the Scanning Area," on p. 8-1.)

QIs the cartridge free of damage?

AIf there is a scratch on the cartridge, replace with a new one. (See "Replacing the Cartridge," on p. 8-6.)

QIs the machine adjusted to room temperature? If not, condensation might build up inside the machine.

AAllow at least 2 hours for the machine to adjust to room temperature before attempting to use it.

QIs the machine installed in a stable location?

AInstall the machine in a proper location. (See Chapter 1, "Safety Instructions," in the Quick Reference Guide.)
