Dial-Up Connections

A dial-up connection is any connection that enables communications between a Palm-size PC and a remote computer using telephone lines and a modem. Once the connection is established, you can send and receive e-mail, or even synchronize data when connected to your desktop computer.

This chapter explains how to make the required settings for a dial-up connection. It also contains information about the types of computers you can connect to with a dial- up connection.

Remote Computers

Your Palm-size PC can establish a dial-up connection with the types of remote computers described below.

Internet Service Provider

You can set up an account with an Internet service provider (ISP) for sending and receiving e-mail. Information (telephone number, user name, password, etc.) you need to set up your Palm-size PC for this type of connection should be provided by your ISP.
