7 TROUBLESHOOTING

7.1Basic Troubleshooting flow

Immediately after you fully insert the Jack-PC device into the installed Flex-Jack housing, you sould see the Power/Fail LED illuminated green. After about 30 seconds you should see the Link LED illuminated orange (see figure 7.1). If nothing happens - no lights – use the basic troubleshooting flow below. If only Power is lighted – go directly to LAN troubleshooting flow (make sure you have read Chapter 6 – LAN and wiring configurations before continuing to the troubleshooting flow).

Naturally troubleshooting the first installation in a particular site is the most difficult. If nothing works after initial installation completed you have several potential suspects:

The LAN cabling

The patch panel at the far end

The switch at the far end

The terminal block at the Flex-Jack housing

The Jack-PC used for testing

The PoE equipment

The overall motivation (as in any troubleshooting flow) is to isolate and identify the faulty component/s. Keep in mind that there may be more than one problem!
