Chapter3 Installing the CiscoAS5350 Connecting to the Console and Auxiliary Ports
Connect a synchronous serial port to a modem or a CSU/DSU with a serial transition cable. (See
Figure 3-12.)

Connecting to the Console and Auxiliary Ports
Use the console termin al for local administr ative access to the universal g ateway. You can only connect
a terminal to the con sole port. You can use the auxi liary port to connect a terminal or a mod em for remote
access to the universal gateway.

Connecting to the Console P ort

To connect a terminal (an A S C I I ter m i na l o r a P C r u nn in g terminal emula tio n software) to the c on s o le
port on the CiscoAS5350, follow this procedure:
Step 1 Connect the terminal to the console port using an RJ-45 rollover cable and an RJ-45-to-DB-25 or
RJ-45-to-DB-9 adapte r. The adap te rs provided are labeled TE RMINAL. The adapters an d th e ro ll over
cable are included in t he ac ces so r y ki t t ha t c om es with the universal gateway. (See Fi gu r e 3-13.)

Step 2 Configure your terminal or PC terminal emulation software for 9600 baud, 8data bits, no parity, and
2 stop bits .
