To transfer and synchronize en crypted WMD RM10 les, USB -
MTP mode (in conjun ction with Windows XP and Windows
Media Player 10) is r equired. Most online music stores and
subscription services use W MDRM10 les*. Please refe r to the
documentation of eith er Microsof t or the st ore from whi ch you
purchased your music for more inf ormation and suppo rt.
WMDRM9 may be used for music purchases , only. WMDRM10
is necessary for subscript ion-based ser vices.
Content owners use Windows Media digital right s management
technology (WMDRM) to protec t their intellec tual propert y,
including copy rights. This device uses W MDRM software to
access WMDRM -protected content. If the WMDRM softwar e
fails to protect th e content, c ontent owners may ask Micr osoft
to revoke the software’s abi lity to use WM DRM to play or co py
protected content. Revo cation does n ot affect u nprotected
content. When you download licenses for protected content,
you agree that Micros oft may includ e a revocation list with the
licenses. Con tent o wners may re quire you to upgr ade W M-
DRM to acces s their content. If you decline an upgrad e, you
will not be able to access content that r equires th e upgrade .
* A few examples of online mus ic stores that su pport WM-
DRM are: AOL Music Now, Napster To Go, URGE , Virgin Digi-
tal, and Y! Music (Yahoo! Music).
Music purchased and downloade d from the iTunes music stor e
are AAC les en crypted with A pple Fai rplay D RM. The MP-
C855 does not suppor t AAC le playbac k. Pl ease us e onl y
MP3, WMA, or WAV music les with yo ur player.
