16 Modem

CAUTION: Before you begin the following procedure, see the safety instructions in the XFR D630 Product Information Guide and in the XFR D630 User’s Guide.

NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on the back of the computer).

NOTICE: To avoid damaging the system board, you must remove the main battery before you begin working inside the computer (see Before Working Inside Your Computer).

16.1Removing the Modem

1.Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.

2.Remove the hinge cover (see Removing the Hinge Cover).

3.Remove any installed media bay device (see XBay Devices).

4.Remove the keyboard (see Keyboards).

5.Remove the display assembly (see Removing the Display Assembly).

6.Remove the palm rest (see Removing the Palm Rest).

7.Remove the M2 x 3-mm screw that attaches the modem to the system board.

8.Pull up on the pull-tab to disconnect the modem from the connector on the system board.
