Before playing MP3 or WMA files

There are many music distribution sites on the Internet from which you can download files in MP3 or WMA (Windows Media Audio) format. Music (files) downloaded from these sites can be played on the CHR-F103 if they have been burned onto CD-R/CD-RW discs.

The WMA logo, Windows Media and the Windows logo are registered trademarks or trademarks in the United States and other countries of Microsoft Corporation of the United States.

Creating MP3 or WMA discs (CD-R/CD-RW discs) compatible with the CHR-F103

When recording MP3 or WMA files onto CD-R/CD-RW discs, set the writing software’s format to “ISO9660 level 1”. Files recorded in other formats may not play properly.

When burning MP3 or WMA files onto CD-R/CD-RW discs, avoid using a folder hierarchy with more than 8 levels. Files and folders from folder level 9 or lower cannot be played.

The maximum number of files and folders that can be played is 1,000 (total for the number of files and folders). The maximum number of folders is 255.

The CHR-F103 is not compatible with packet write software or playlists.

Also read the operating instructions of the software used to create the MP3 or WMA files.

Be sure to give the extension “.MP3” or “.WMA” to MP3 or WMA files. The files cannot be played if they have any other extensions. (For Macintosh computers, MP3 files can be played by giving the files the extension “.MP3” after a file name consisting of no more than 8 capital letters or numbers before storing them on the CD- R/CD-RW disc.)

Your recordings may be used for your personal enjoyment only, and may not be used for other purposes without the consent of the copyright holder as per copyright laws.
