Certainmetadataparametersallowtheengineertoselecthowthestereodownmixis
constructedandwhichstereoanalogsignalispreferred,butLt/Rtisthedefaultselection
inallconsumerdecoders.SeeParameterDefinitionsonpage 92forthedefinitionof
individualparameters.
Duringdownmixing,aswehaveseen,theadjustmentofDynamicRangeControl
parametersislimited.Broadlyspeaking,thestereooutputsusetheLinemodecompression
profilewhilethemonosignalusesRFmodecompression.Aswithdynamicrangecontrol,
downmixingisultimatelydependentuponeachconsumer’suniquelistening
environment.
Whiletheengineermustoptimizethemultichannelmixforreproductioninanideal
listeningenvironment,itisalsoimportanttopreviewthemixindownmixingconditions
toensurecompatibilitywithdifferentplaybacksystemswhenselectingthedownmixing
metadataparameters.ThesepreviewscanbeachievedinrealtimeusingtheDP570
MultichannelAudioTool.
