withdifferentequipment.Toproperlycalibratethesubwoofer,areal‐timeanalyzer(RTA)
isrequired.IfanRTAisnotavailable,youcanapproximatethesettingswithanSPLmeter.
WhenusinganRTA,propercalibrationrequiressettingtheLFEchannelsignalsenttothe
subwoofer,withinitstypicalbandwidthof25to120Hz,10dBhigherthanthemain
channels.FigureA‐9showsasampleRTAdisplayofaproperlycalibratedsubwoofer.

Forfuturereference,ifcalibratingthesubwooferwithanRTA,measurethelevelwithan
SPLmeterandnotethemeterreadingforthepropercalibration.Usethismeasuredvalue
forquickchecksofthesystemcalibrationinthefuture.
