Explanation:

This command sets the number of the line counter for use with block-structure data blocks. This makes it possible for the scanner to send multiple lines of image data in one data block.

The line counter setting is canceled upon execution of the

ESC G (Start scanning) command. In other words, the scanner returns to line-structure data transmission following execution of ESC G.
