DANGER
POTENTIAL HAZARD
♦ In certain condit ions gasoline is extremely flamm able
and highly explosive.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
♦ A static charge can ignite g asoline vapors. A fire or
explosion from gasoline can burn you, others, and
cause property damag e.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
♦ Purchase and store gasoline only in an approved
container.
♦ Always place gasoline containers on the gr ound away
fr om your vehicle before filling.
♦ Do not f ill gasoline containers inside a vehicle or on a
truck or t r ailer bed because interior carpets or plastic
truck bed liner s m a y insulate the container and slow
the loss of any static char ge.
♦ When pract ical, r em ove g as- powered eq uipm ent from
the truck or trailer and r efuel the eq uipm ent with its
wheels on the ground.
♦ If t his is not possible, then refuel such equipment on a
truck or trailer f r om a por table container, rat her than
fr om a gasoline dispenser nozzle.
♦ If a gasoline dispenser nozzle must be used, keep the
nozzle in contact wit h t he rim of the fuel tank or
container opening at all times until f ueling is complete.
WARNING
POTENTIAL HAZARD
♦ Gasoline vapor can collect inside enclosed tr ailer s and
may be ignited by electrical spar ks or hot
engine/exhaust component s.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
♦ Explosion and fire may occur, r esulting in propert y
damage, per sonal injury, and/or death.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
♦ Provide adequate ventilation of any enclosed trailer to
prevent build up of gasoline vapors, especially at floor
level.
♦ Refuel only outdoors, never inside an enclosed trailer.
♦ Be sure all f uel t anks and gasoline stor age containers
have proper caps installed to prevent spillage and
minimize vapor escaping into t he t r ailer .
♦ Do not place any equipment t hat is leaking g asoline in
an enclosed trailer.
1.4 OPERATION
Although hazard control and acci dent prevent ion are partially dependent upon t he
design and configurat i on of t he equipment, these fact ors are al so dependent upon
the awareness, concern, prudence, and proper t r ai ni ng of the personnel involved in
the operation, t ransport, maintenance, and st orage of t he equi pment . It is essenti al
that all Operator Safety Mechanisms be connect ed and in operating conditi on pri or
to use for mowing.
