NEUTRAL LOCK/PARK BRAKE LATCH
4.1.5 PTO Engagement: Locat ed on the lef t side of the upper handle.
To engage the blades, push t he lever forward, or away fr om t he oper ator, unt il t he
linkag e locks over-center .
To disengage the blades, pull t he lever t o t he r ear, or t owards the oper at or .
4.1.6 Choke Contr ol: Choke is used to aid in starting a cold engine.
The chok e cont r ol is located on the front left cor ner of the fuel tank support and is
activated by pulling the contr ol out ward. O nce the engine has st ar t ed m ove the
choke contr ol to the “O FF” position. DO NOT run warm eng ine with the choke in
the “ON” position.
4.1.7 Throttle Control: Located on the contr ol console’s right side. The throttle is used to
control eng ine speed. Moving the thr ottle contr ol forward will increase engine
speed and moving it to t he rear will decrease engine speed.
4.1.8 “Off-Run” Switch: Located on the console. Turn k ey to t he “ Run” posit ion to allow
the engine t o be st ar ted. T ur n key to the “O ff” posit ion t o shut engine of f.
4.1.9 Fuel Shut-Off Valve: Inst alled in t he fuel line midway between the tank and the
engine. The f uel shut - off valve is used to shut of f the flow of fuel when parking
inside a building, dur ing transpor t ation to and f rom the j ob sit es, and when the
machine will not be used for a few days.
Rotate valve 1/4 turn clockwise to shut f uel off. Rot at e valve 1/4 tur n counter-
clockwise to turn fuel on.
4.1.10 Transmission Shift Lever:
Located under the cont r ol console and behind the f uel t ank. I t shifts t he 5- speed
transmission int o five for ward g ear s, neutral, and r everse. Shift t r ansm ission only
when drive lever s ar e in t he neutral position. Shifting without drive levers in neutr al
may cause damage to t he t r ansm ission.
NOTE: Reverse is “reverse assist” only, meani ng when the transmissi on i s
in reverse, the operator has to pull t he uni t backward to “assist” wit h t he
movement of the unit.

4.2 PRE-START

4.2.1 Refer to Maintenance and Adjustment Section 5 and perform all of the necessar y
inspection and maintenance steps.
4.2.2 Fill fuel tank. For best results use only clean fresh regular g r ade unleaded
gasoline with an octane rat ing of 87 or higher. Regular g r ade leaded gasoline may
also be used; however, combustion chamber and cylinder head will requir e more
fr equent service. See Engine Owner's Manual.
