CAUTION
POTENTIAL HAZARD
Raising the m ower deck for service or maint enance
relying solely on mechanical or hydraulic jacks could
be dangerous.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
The mechanical or hydraulic j acks may not be enough
support or m ay malfunction allowing the unit to fall,
which could cause injury.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
DO NOT r e ly solely on mechanical or hydraulic jacks
for suppor t . Use adequate jack st ands or equivalent
support.
a) Disengage PTO.
b) Stop engine and wait for all moving part s to stop. Remove key or spar k plug
wire(s).
c) Raise deck and block up using proper saf ety precautions.
d) Clean out any grass build-up from underside of deck and in deck discharge
chute.
e) Inspect blades and sharpen or r eplace as r equired.
f) If blade r em oval is necessary, be careful f or t he shar p cutting edges of the
blades.
g) Re-install the blades ( if they were removed) and torq ue blade bolts to 115-120
ft . lbs. Be sure the spring disc washer cone is installed toward the bolt head
(See Figure 11).

Operating a mower deck with loose or weakened
blade bolts can be danger ous.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
A loose or weakend blade bolt could allow a blade
rotating at a high speed to come out from under t he
deck, causing serious injury or propert y damage.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
Replace the blade bolt after str iking a foreign object.
(Use only Exmark replacem ent parts PN 103-1026 -
blade bolt and PN 1-513208 – spring disc washer).
DO NOT lubr icate the threads of the bolt or spindle
befor e assem bly.
Torque the blade bolt to 115-120 ft. lbs.
h) Remove jack stands (or equivalent support ) and lower deck to ground.
