Instructions and procedures in this section may require special precautions to ensure the safety of the personnel performing the operations. Information that raises potential safety issues is indicated by a warning symbol (HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS INSTALLATIONS). Please refer to the following safety messages before performing an operation preceded by this symbol.

Once a device labeled with multiple approval types is installed, it should not be reinstalled using any of the other labeled approval types. To ensure this, the approval label should be permanently marked to distinguish the used from the unused approval type(s).

HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS INSTALLATIONS

Manual backgroundThe Models 244E are available with circuitry that is suitable for intrinsically safe operation. The Model 244EH is available with optional explosion-proof enclosures and can be specified for non-incendive operation. Individual transmitters are clearly marked with a tag indicating the approvals they carry.

To maintain certified ratings for installed transmitters, they must be installed in accordance with all applicable installation codes and approval drawings. Verify that the operating atmosphere of the transmitter is consistent with the appropriate hazardous locations certification.

IMPORTANT
