The MAKE REF MOV utility must be performed before mounting FS- 100 in Final Cut Pro (FCP). FCP modifies content files, after which they are incompatible with the FS-100 MAKE REF MOV utility.

This utility generates one or more QuickTime Reference Movie files for each video clip in QUICKTIME, QUICKTIME PN, and QUICKTIME 24P DTE file formats.

Creating the reference movie file streamlines the workflow for FCP users. In FCP, the reference movie file can be dragged into the appropriate timeline and all associated video and audio files are automatically utilized.

Moving and Copying Reference Movie Files

When moving or copying the reference movie file, make sure to move or copy the content files to the same folder. The reference movie file must be in same folder as the content files.

Number of reference movie files generated per clip depends upon the HDD MODE and length of recording. A reference movie file is generated for approximately every 2 hours of content in a clip. See the following table for details:

The maximum number of Reference Movies that can be generated at one time is 500.
