7.4.3 How to Install/Remove Memory Modules
This section explains how to install/remove memory modules.
1Turn the power off and remove the top cover.

2Touch a metal part of the server to discharge static electricity.
3Install or remove memory modules.
• Installing
Insert a memory module properly into the memory slot. The levers close.
If the levers are not closed completely, push them with your fingers.
Check that the memory module is inserted all the way.
• Removing
Open the levers on both ends.
4Check that the memory module is inserted all the way.
5Install the top cover and return the server back into the rack.

6Initialize the Extended System Configuration Data (ESCD).
On the "8.2.5 Advanced Menu" (pg.215) of the BIOS Setup Utility, set [Reset Configuration
Data] to [Yes].
7Store the BIOS settings.

• Make sure not to open the clips outward too quickly because the memory
module may pop up, which could cause damage.
• An improperly engaged memory module could cause a fire. Do not insert the
memory module on the wrong side.
