Memory

Four DIMM sockets on the system board support up to 2.0 Gigabytes (GB) of PC/100 SDRAM.

Replacing memory

The DRAM DIMMs supported by the system board conform to the following standards:

128 MB, 256 MB, and 512 MB ECC DIMMs

PC/100-compliant, unbuffered, ECC SDRAM

128 MB minimum system memory

2.0 GB maximum system memory

When you select and install DIMMs, keep the following in mind:

Registered DIMMs should not be combined with unbuffered DIMMs

Memory should be added in order, from DIMM 1 to DIMM 4.

There can be no empty slots between installed DIMMs.

No jumper settings are required for the memory size or type because the BIOS automatically detects this information.

To replace DIMMs:

1Turn off the system and disconnect the power cord and all other external peripheral devices.

2Open the case. (See “Opening the case” on page 18 and “Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 17.)
