Expansion cards

The server has two expansion slots on the riser card that can be used for a variety of expansion cards. These slots support 32-bit, 33 MHz PCI cards. Both slots will hold full-length cards. The expansion slots on the system board are not used.

Replacing an expansion card

You must install an expansion card in slot 1 before you can install an expansion card in slot 2.

To replace an expansion card:

1Set any jumpers and switches on the replacement card, if required in the card instructions.

2Turn off the server, then disconnect the power cord and all external peripheral devices.

3Open the case. (See “Opening the case” on page 18 and “Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 17.)

4Disconnect any cables attached to the card.

5Loosen the captive thumbscrew that holds the expansion slot cover bracket in place and remove the expansion slot cover bracket.
