B. Configuring SATA controller mode in BIOS Setup

Make sure to configure the SATA controller mode correctly in system BIOS Setup.

Step 1:

Turn on your computer and press <Delete> to enter BIOS Setup during the POST (Power-On Self-Test). Under Integrated Peripherals, ensure NV Serial-ATA Controller is enabled (Figure 1). Then, go to the SATA-II RAID Config submenu (Figure 2).

To create a RAID array, set Onchip SATA Mode to RAID (or set to IDE or AHCI for non-RAID configuration). Then, enable RAID functionality for the SATA connectors with hard drives that you want to use for RAID. For example, SATA-IIPri-Master RAID is for the SATAII0 connector and SATA-II Pri- Slave RAID for the SATAII1 connector. (Figure 2). To create a RAID array on hard drive connected to the eSATA 3Gb/s port on the back panel, set SATA-IISec-Slave RAID to Enabled.
