5.2 Securing Child in Infant Restraint

Failureto properly secure your child in the infant restraint/carrier

increases the risk ofserious injury or death from suffocation orfalls,

orin the event of a sudden stop or crash.Even when

used onlyas a carrier, make sure the harness straps are

properlysecured.

1. Moveinfant restraint handle to sitting position (see page 16).
2. Openhar ness clip by
squeezingboth sides and
unbuckleas shown .
3. Placeyour child in the infant
restraintas shown in ,not .
Place the harness straps
aroundyour child.
4. Insert the two buckletongues into the harness buckle on the crotch
strap.Make sure that you hear each tongue click into the buckle.
DO NOTuse the infant restraint if the buckle tongues do not
