4 Copying Image Files to the Computer (Reader/Writer Connection)

If your computer is running Windows 98/98SE, you must perform the procedure specified

under2 Installing the HDC-401EX Driver in the Computer P79 before you can connect your HDC-401EX to the computer.

In the folder, select the image files you want to copy (load) to the computer, and then drag and drop them to a desired location (My Documents, etc.).

If you want to edit image files using commercially available image-editing software, etc., it is recommended that you copy the image files to a desired location (My Documents, etc.)in the computer.

Open My Computer and then double-click

Drag and Drop

This method of computer operation uses a mouse. Specifically, it refers to moving data or files using your mouse. With the mouse pointer over the desired file icon or other symbol shown on the screen, press the mouse button and move the mouse (drag) while holding down the button, and then release the button (drop) when the icon reaches the target location.

Similarly, you can drag and drop the desired data in a desired location (My Computer, etc.) of the computer into the folder (camera), thereby copying the data to the folder.

During the Copy process (communication), the viewfinder lamp (red) on the camera blinks continuously. Never disconnect the USB cable or touch the camera (interface cover, control panel, MODE button, MENU button, shutter, etc.) while the viewfinder lamp is blinking. Doing so may damage the stored data.

All data copied to the folder (camera) is deleted by Formatting P74 . Exercise caution.

Folder/File Naming Rules

The HDC-401EX will assign folder and file names automatically according to the following rules.

Folder name:

Consecutive

Consecutivefile number (0001 to 9999)

When the file number reaches 9999, the next file is saved in a new folder having the next higher folder number.
