Open the battery/SD memory card cover by

 

 

 

 

 

sliding it in the direction of the arrow.

Set the batteries by aligning the + and --

 

marks with the marks in the battery

 

compartment.

Close the battery/SD memory card cover.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Turn off the camera power before replacing the batteries.

Do not open the battery/SD memory card cover using a violent motion. The cover may be damaged.

When opening/closing the battery/SD memory card cover, be careful not to drop the batteries.

It is recommended that the batteries be removed and stored separately if the camera won,t be used for a long period of time.

Applicable Batteries

The HDC-401EX can be used with AA alkaline dry batteries and AA nickel metal hydride batteries. (HR-3SB by Hitachi Maxell, Ltd. is recommended.) See“Remaining Battery Power Display”for the remaining battery power displayed on the LCD monitor.

AA manganese dry batteries cannot be used.

The two AA alkaline dry batteries included in the package are provided to help you check the basic operations of the digital camera. If you are shooting real targets, replace them with commercial AA alkaline dry batteries or AA nickel metal hydride batteries.

The figures in the table are reference values until the batteries go flat, assuming that images are captured in a standard environment in the 2304 x 1728/normal mode under the following conditions and played continuously at a speed of approximately 3 seconds per frame. They are not guaranteed. The actual figures may be lower, depending on the condition or environment in which the camera is used.

ContinuousImages are captured continuously without flash. CyclicImages are captured by repeating the sequence of

“Checking the subjects for 5 seconds”→“Capture”→“Playback for 5 seconds.” In both modes, all images are erased once the memory gets full.

Even when the power is off, the HDC-401EX carries a very small amount of current to back up the internal clock. It is recommended that the batteries be removed and stored separately if the camera won,t be used for a long period of time.

In this condition the flash or Formatting P74 may not work properly. It is recommended that you replace the batteries with new ones.

Use the display of remaining battery power only as a reference.
