5 Removing the Camera

When removing the HDC-401EX, be sure to follow the procedure below. If the camera is removed or the USB cable is disconnected without following the specified operation, the computer may not operate correctly or the recorded data may be damaged.

This operation is not necessary if your computer is running Windows 98/98SE.

1 Close all applications accessing the camera.

Click the Remove Hardware icon on the

 

taskbar, select the drive you want to

 

 

remove and then click Stop (Remove).

When Stop (Remove) is clicked, a warning screen may be displayed with the message Camera cannot be stopped. In this case, check to see if the camera is still communicating with the computer. Remove the camera once communication has ended.

3 When the You can safely remove the device dialog box is

displayed, click OK.

This step is not necessary in Windows XP.

4 Remove the camera.

Before removing the camera, be sure to confirm that the camera is not communicating with the computer (i.e. its viewfinder lamp (red) is not blinking).
