When an audio file is being played, appointment notification will not sound (even if sound and reminders have been set in the control panel), however, the appointment notification light will still flash.

When playing MP3 music files through the HP Jornada builtin speaker, reduce the bass setting. See Setting bass and treble levels in Chapter 7.
