Controlling Other Components—Continued

Learning Commands from Other Remote Controllers

The AV receiver’s remote controller can receive and learn commands from other remote controllers. By trans- mitting, for example, the Play command from your CD player’s remote controller, the remote controller can learn it and then transmit the exact same command when its Play [ ] button is pressed in the CD remote mode.

Point the remote controllers at

each other, about 2 to 6 inches

(5–15 cm) apart, and then press

and hold the button whose com-

mand you want to learn until the

Remote indicator flashes.

If the command is learned successfully,

the Remote indicator flashes twice.

You can also use this function to learn individual com- mands after entering a remote control code (page 79).

Notes:

The following buttons cannot learn new commands:

Remote Mode, Macro [1], [2], [3], TV [ ], TV

[Input], TV CH [+]/[–], TV VOL []/[ ], Light.

The remote controller can learn approximately 70-90 commands, although, this will be reduced by com- mands that use a lot of memory.

Remote controller buttons such as Play, Stop, Pause, and so on are preprogrammed with commands for controlling Integra CD players, cassette decks, and DVD players. However, they can learn new com- mands, and you can restore the preprogrammed com- mands by resetting the remote controller (see

page 80).

To overwrite a previously learned command, repeat this procedure.

Only commands from infrared remote controllers can be learned.

When the remote controller’s batteries expire, all learned commands will be lost and will have to be learned all over again, so don’t discard your other remote controllers.
