8. iPP Printing

8.1 introduction

IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) printing provides a convenient way of remote
printing service using TCP/IP. The MFP server can support IPP printing in Windows
2000/XP/Server 2003 by default. By using IPP printing, you can share the printer
with all the PCs that can access the MFP server through the IP address. You can
even share your all-in-one printer (or other printer) with Internet users.

8.2 System Setup

8.2.1 MFP Server Side
Make sure the MFP server has the correct IP settings. If you want to share the
printers with Internet users, you have to set a real IP address for the MFP server.
You also have to make sure that any gateway, router or rewall does not block the
IPP protocol if you have these gateway devices installed in your network.
8.2.2 client Side
You only need to perform the Windows standard Add New Printer procedure.
1. on the desktop, go to Start, then Settings; then select “Printers and Faxes.”
2. Click “Add a Printer.”
