In accordance with the conditions under which the subject is recorded, adjust the focus in the manual focus mode.

In the auto focus mode, correct focus may be difficult to obtain under the following shooting conditions.

When the subject is behind metal mesh.

While panning quickly from a distant point to one nearby; the subject will be in focus when the panning is stopped.

In dark places.

When the iris is at the CLOSE end.

Manual focus mode indication

Operation

1. In the recording-standby mode or during shooting, set the FOCUS switch to “MANU”.

The manual focus mode is engaged, and the MF indicator that indicates the manual focus mode is displayed on the LCD screen and the viewfinder screen.

2. Turn the focus ring on the lens section to adjust the focus.

To return to the auto focus mode, set the FOCUS switch to AUTO.

Memo:

To obtain correct focus, push the ZOOM lever to the “T” position and then adjust the focus while the subject is in the zoomed-in condition. The focus will be retained after zooming out.

If the focus is adjusted in the wide-angle condition, the subject will be out of focus when you zoom in.
