Getting Started

1Disconnect the phone cord from the wall jack that connects your modem to the telephone wall jack and plug it into the port labeled 2-EXTon your All-in-One.

2Make sure your answering machine is connected to the Out port on the back of your modem. This provides a direct connection between the All-in-One and your answering machine, even though the modem is connected first.

CAUTION

If you do not connect your answering machine in this way, fax tones from a sending fax machine could be recorded on your answering machine, and you may not be able to receive faxes.

3Connect the phone cord supplied with your EasyShare AiO to your telephone wall jack and the port labeled 1-LINE.

4If your modem software is set to automatically receive faxes to your computer, set it to Off.

5Set Answering Machine Mode on your All-in-One to On.

6Set your EasyShare AiO to answer the phone after the answering machine. The number of rings to answer for the EasyShare AiO should be greater than the number of rings to answer for the answering machine. You want the answering machine to answer before your EasyShare AiO. For more information on setting the number of rings to answer, see Set Rings to Answer.

The EasyShare AiO will not automatically answer calls. Instead, the answering machine will answer the call and the EasyShare AiO will monitor the line. If the EasyShare AiO detects fax tones, the EasyShare AiO will receive the fax. If the call is a voice call, the EasyShare AiO ignores the call.
