IMPROPER microphone positioning for automatic calibration

During the automatic calibration, do not:

7Arrange the microphones along the perimeter of

the listening positions or space

7Position the microphones in spots where the

listeners’ heads will not be during listening		Rear

7 Obstruct the line-of-sight path between the		Side
microphones and the speakers	Right	Left

7 Position the microphones on the floor, on seat
cushions, or in locations obstructed by furniture
and other fixtures, where echoes might obscure		Side
calibration noise signals		Right

7Position the microphones within 2 feet (0.61m) of

speakers and walls or more than 30 feet (9.14m)
from any one speaker.	Microphone

The illustration to the right provides an example of	Subwoofer
improper microphone placement during the micro-
phone check. The microphones are positioned on the	Front
floor along the perimeter of the listening space,	Right
making it difficult for the MC-12 to calibrate optimal
speaker distances and output levels for the actual
listening positions.
