Step 7. Carefully insert PCI Bus edge connector J1 (see Figure 1.1) of the host adapter into the PCI slot.

Make sure the edge connector is properly aligned before pressing the board into place, as shown in Figure 1.2. The bracket around the Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver cages should fit where you removed the blank panel.

Step 8. Secure the board with the bracket screw (see Figure 1.2), then make the external FC link connection.
