5Index Search

This function allows you to index the starting point to make it easy to reach the point in either fast forward or rewind mode.

•Every time you start recording, an index is marked automatically. The index mark also works as the start- ing point of timer recording.

•The index mark will not be recorded if [PAUSE F] is used during recording.

•The time gap between making the index marks on the tape should be greater than 1 minute for SP recording, 2 minutes for LP recording and 3 minutes for SLP recording.

•In some cases, the index mark at the beginning of cassette tape cannot be detected.

Example: You are watching program number 4 and want to fast forward to program number 7. Skip three programs.

Note:

•The numbers of index search can be set up to 20.

•This function is not available during recording.

•To cancel index search in progress, press [STOP/EJECT C A] on the unit or [STOP C] on the remote control.

5Basic Recording & OTR						INTRODUCTION
This function describes how to record to this unit from the programs.
One-touch timer recording (OTR) enables you to start recording for specifi ed
length simply by pressing [REC/OTR .,I] on the unit.						PREPARATION
Before you begin:
Insert a cassette tape with its erase-prevention tab in place.
Make sure the cassette has enough remaining tape for the recording.
1 Use [CH.	K	/	L	] or [the Number buttons] to select the
channel to be recorded.						INITIAL

2 Press [SPEED] to select the desired tape speed (SP/ SLP).
(Refer to “Selecting Tape Speeds” on page 24.)

3Press [REC] to start recording.

4 Press [REC/OTR I] on the unit repeatedly until your					VCR
	desired length appears on the TV screen. The recording
	time will increase by 30 minutes up to 8 hours. Recording				OPERATING

	• If the recording is paused for more than 5 minutes, the unit will
