TCP/IP Configuration

This chapter describes how to configure your Model RT328/RH348 router for TCP/IP. Depending

on your particular applications, you must configure different menus. For instance, Internet access is the most common application of TCP/IP. For this application, you should configure Menu 4. Configurations for other applications are provided in the following sections.

LAN-to-LAN Application

An example of a typical LAN-to-LAN application is to use the router to call from a branch office to the headquarters, as shown in Figure 7-1.

For the branch office, you must configure a remote node in order to dial out to the headquarters. Additionally, you may also need to configure static routes if some services reside beyond the immediate remote LAN.
