Step 3 Frame a Picture

Basic Steps for Shooting

1Hold the camera steadily in both hands.

Keep fingers and other objects away from the lens, flash, AF assist-illuminator, microphone, and speaker.

When taking pictures in portrait (“tall”) orientation, turn the camera so that the built-in flash is above the lens.

2 Frame the picture.

When the camera detects a human face, that face is framed by a yellow double border (focus area) (default setting).

Up to 12 faces can be detected. When the camera detects more than one face, the face closest to the camera is framed by a double border and the others by a single border.

When shooting non-human subjects or when no faces

are detected, the focus area is not displayed. Position the main subject near the center of the frame.

CUsing a Tripod

We recommend using a tripod to stabilize the camera when shooting in the following situations: - When shooting in dim lighting or when the flash mode (A56) is set to c(Off).
