Shooting Features

Using A(Auto) Mode

Used for general shooting. Settings can be adjusted in the shooting menu (A39) to suit the shooting conditions and the type of shot you want to capture.

On the shooting screen MA (shooting mode) button MA (auto) mode (A26–27)

If the camera detects a human face, the camera

automatically focuses on it (see “Face Detection”

 

 

(A68) for more information).

 

 

If no faces are detected, the camera automatically

 

 

selects one or more of the nine focus areas

 

 

containing the subject closest to the camera. When

the subject is in focus, the focus area (active focus

 

 

area) lights in green (maximum of nine areas).

 

 

At the default setting, the shutter can be released by simply tapping a subject in the monitor (A39) without pressing the shutter-release button.

The Touch shutter option can be changed to the Touch AF/AE option, which allows the camera to set the focus and exposure on the subject that is tapped on the monitor (touch shutter) (A39).

The Subject tracking option, which moves the active focus area to track the registered subject, can be enabled (A39).

Adjusting the A (Auto) Mode Settings

You can change the settings for the flash mode, self-timer, macro mode, and exposure compensation. See “Basic Shooting Settings” (A54) for more information.

If you tap the d tab (A11), the menu options available in A (auto) mode are displayed. See “Options Available in the Auto Shooting Menu” (A39) for more information.
