Face Detection

BNotes About the Face Detection Function

The camera may be unable to detect faces in the following situations:

-When faces are partially hidden by sunglasses or other obstructions

-When faces take up too much or too little of the frame

When the frame includes more than one face, the faces detected by the camera and the face on which the camera focuses depend upon a variety of factors, including the direction in which the faces are looking.

In some rare cases, such as those described in “Subjects Not Suitable for Autofocus” (A31), the subject may not be in focus even though the double border turns green. Should this occur, refocus on another subject positioned at the same distance from the camera as the actual portrait subject (A40).

CNotes About Images Including Detected Faces

When images in which a face was detected during shooting are played back, the images will be automatically rotated for playback display according to the orientation of the face detected, except pictures that were taken using Continuous, BSS, Multi-shot 16 (A39), or the subject tracking function (A39).

In full-frame playback mode, the image is enlarged with the detected face at the center of the screen when the zoom control is rotated to g(i) or when the detected face is double-tapped (A33), except pictures that were taken using Continuous, BSS, Multi-shot 16 (A39), or the subject tracking function (A39).
