Preset Manual

Preset manual is used under unusual lighting conditions or when the desired effect has not been achieved with white balance settings like Auto and Incandescent (for example, to make images shot under a lamp with a red shade look as though they had been shot under white light).

1 Place a white or gray reference object under the lighting that will be used during shooting.

2 Display the shooting menu (A74), use the multi selector to set White balance to

bPreset manual, then press the kbutton.

The camera lens extends to a position that is half of the camera's maximum optical zoom.

3 Choose Measure.

To use the most recently measured value for preset manual, choose Cancel and press the kbutton. The most recently measured value will be set for white balance.

4 Frame the reference object.

5 Press the kbutton to measure the white balance value.

The shutter is released and the new white-balance preset value is set (no picture is recorded).

B Note on Preset Manual

The camera cannot measure a white balance value for when the flash fires. When shooting with the

 

flash, set White balance to Auto or Flash.
