Installing and Connecting the Hardware

HotWire 8600 DSLAM Chassis Installation

You will need a large, flat-blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver to install the 8600 chassis in a commercial EIA-standard 19- or 23-inch rack on a desk or table.

The HotWire 8600 DSLAM chassis is designed to be stacked one on top of the other on a desktop or table, or mounted in a 19-or 23-inch rack. Up to three 8600 chassis can be stacked on a table or desktop. Mounting brackets are provided for mounting in 19- or 23-inch racks.

The following procedures describe how to:

￿Stack the 8600 chassis

￿Interconnect the chassis

￿Install the 8600 chassis into a rack with threaded screw holes

￿Install the 8600 chassis into a rack without threaded screw holes

Stacking the 8600 Chassis

"Procedure

To stack the 8600 chassis on a desktop or table, select the stack position, and interconnect the stack:

1.Place the first HotWire 8600 DSLAM chassis on a table or desk.

2.Place the next HotWire 8600 DSLAM chassis directly on top of the first chassis.

3.Place the next HotWire 8600 DSLAM chassis directly on top of the second chassis.
