■Listening Modes

Listening Mode			Description	Input	Speaker

Direct			In this mode, audio from the input source is	A	ZXC

			The speaker configuration (presence of	D
			speakers) and speaker distance settings are	F
			enabled, but much of the processing set via

Stereo			Sound is output from the front left and right		ZXC
			speakers and subwoofer.		N
	S t e r e o
Mono			Use this mode when watching an old movie
			with a mono soundtrack, or use it with the
	M o n o
			foreign language soundtracks recorded in the
			left and right channels of some movies. It
			can also be used with DVDs or other sources
			containing multiplexed audio, such as
			karaoke DVDs.
Multichannel			This mode is for use with PCM multichannel	D	XCN
			sources.	F

DSD*2			In this mode, audio from the input source is	D	XCN
			output without surround-sound processing.

			The speaker configuration (presence of
Dolby Digital			speakers), crossover frequency, speaker
			distance, A/V Sync and much of the

DTS 96/24*4			This mode is for use with DTS 96/24	D	XCN
			sources. This is high-resolution DTS with a
	D T S	9 6 / 2 4
			96 kHz sampling rate and 24-bit resolution,
			providing superior fidelity. Use it with
			DVDs that bear the DTS 96/24 logo.
DTS-ES Discrete*5			This mode is for use with DTS-ES Discrete	G	V
			soundtracks, which use a discrete surround
	E S	D i s c r e t e	back channel for true 6.1/7.1-channel
			playback. The seven totally separate audio
			channels provide better spatial imaging and
			360-degree sound localization, perfect for
			sounds that pan across the surround
			channels. Use it with DVDs that bear the
			DTS-ES logo, especially those with a DTS-
			ES Discrete soundtrack.
DTS-ES Matrix*5			This mode is for use with DTS-ES Matrix	G	V
			soundtracks, which use a matrix-encoded

			back-channel for 6.1/7.1-channel playback.
			Use it with DVDs that bear the DTS-ES
			logo, especially those with a DTS-ES Matrix
			soundtrack.
