To wall outlet

Turning on the power may cause a momentary power surge, which might interfere with other electrical equipment on the same circuit, such as computers. If this happens, use a wall outlet on a different circuit.

(All models other than USA and Canadian models and Australian models)

The TX-SR701/701E/601/601E is shipped with the main power (POWER) switch in the on position ( ON ). When the power cord is plugged in for the first time, the TX-SR701/701E/601/ 601E will automatically enter the standby state and the STANDBY indicator will light (same condition after step 2 below).

Turning on the power

1. Plug the power cord into an AC wall outlet.

(USA and Canadian models and Australian models)

The STANDBY indicator will light up.

(All models other than USA and Canadian models and Australian models)

Press the POWER switch to set the TX-SR701/701E/ 601/601E to standby state.

The STANDBY indicator will light up.

2.Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn on the TX- SR701/701E/601/601E.

The display will light up and the STANDBY indicator will turn off.

If you press the STANDBY/ON button again, the receiver returns to standby state.

Turn off

Turning on the power from the remote controller

Before you can use the remote controller, you must perform step 1 above and place the TX-SR701/701E/601/601E in the standby state.

1. Press the RCVR MODE button.

The RCVR MODE button lights.

2. Press the ON button to turn on the TX-SR701/701E/601/601E (take it out of the standby state).

To return the TX-SR701/701E/601/601E to the standby state, press the STANDBY button.

Memory preservation (Other than USA and Canadian models and Australian models)

The TX-SR701/701E/601/601E does not require memory preservation batteries. A built-in memory backup system preserves the contents of memory (e.g., speaker settings and surround settings) during power failures and even when the power is turned off with the POWER switch. The backup system is charged when the POWER switch is turned on.

The length of time that the memory will be preserved will vary depending on the ambient climate. On the average, memory contents are protected over a period of a few weeks after the last time the unit has been turned off. This period may be shorter when the unit is exposed to a highly humid climate.
