5:The subject is not focused properly.

•The focus range varies depending on the recording mode.

Rotate the mode dial to set the proper mode for the distance to the subject.

•Is the subject beyond the focus range of the camera? (P22, 43)

•Have you taken a picture with jitter?

6:The recorded picture is blurred. The

optical image stabilizer is not effective.

•The shutter speed will become slower and the optical image stabilizer function may not work properly when taking pictures especially in dark places. In this case, we recommend holding the camera firmly with both hands when taking pictures. (P22) We recommend using the self4imer (P39) when taking pictures with a slow shutter speed.

7:The recorded picture looks rough. Noise appears on the picture.

•Is the ISO sensitivity high or the shutter speed slow?

(ISO sensitivity is set to [AUTO] when the camera is shipped. Therefore, when taking pictures indoors etc. the ISO sensitivity increases.)

- Decrease the ISO sensitivity. (P60) -Set [COL.MODE] to [NATURAL].

(P64)

-Take pictures in bright places.

•In [HIGH SENS.] (P49) in scene mode, the resolution of the recorded picture decreases slightly because of high sensitivity processing.

This is not a malfunction.

8:The brightness or the hue of the recorded picture is different from the actual scene.

Others

•If recording under fluorescent light, the brightness or the hue may change

slightly when the shutter speed becomes fast. This occurs due to the

characteristics of fluorescent light, it is not a malfunction.

g:A reddish vertical line appears on the LOD monitor when the shutter button

is pressed halfway or when recording motion pictures.

•This is a phenomenon called smear. It is a

characteristic of CCD

and appears when the subject has a bright part. Black or green

vertical lines may also appear or

uneven celours may appear around the smear. This is not a malfunction. It is

recorded in motion pictures but is not recorded on still pictures.

10:Motion picture recording stops in the middle.

•Are you using a MultiMediaCard?

-This unit does not support MultiMediaCards.

•When you set the picture quality to [30fpsVGA] or [30fps 16:9], we recommend using a High Speed SD Memory Card with "10MB/s" or greater displayed on the package.

•Depending on the type of the card, recording may stop in the middle.

•LCD monitor

1 : The LCD monitor sometimes turns off although the camera is turned on.

•Have you set economy mode? (P19)

-In economy mode, the LCD monitor turns off while the flash is charged.

2:The LCD monitor becomes darker or brighter for a moment.

•This phenomenon appears when you press the shutter button halfway to set the aperture value and does not affect the recorded pictures.
