About [ ] (Intelligent ISO sensitivity control)

The camera automatically sets the optimum ISO sensitivity and shutter speed to suit the movement of the subject and brightness of the scene to minimize the jitter of the subject.

The actual shutter speed is calculated at the moment the picture is taken. It is continuously changing to match the movement of the subject until the shutter button is pressed fully. Confirm the actual shutter speed on the information display for the picture being played back.

Note

The higher the value set for the ISO sensitivity, the more the jitter is reduced but the greater the amount of picture noise.

Refer to P74 for the flash range.

Even when [ ] is selected, jitter reduction is limited, and related to the scene characteristics.

Detection of image movement of small objects or objects located at the perimeter of the picture can be difficult.

The setting is fixed to [ ] in the following cases.

In [SPORTS],[BABY1]/[BABY2] and [PET] in Scene Mode

Program Shift is deactivated when the ISO Sensitivity is set to [ ].

[ ] is disabled when Shutter-Priority AE Mode and Manual Exposure Mode is selected. [AUTO] is disabled in Manual Exposure Mode.

If picture noise becomes a problem, we recommend that you take pictures after lowering the ISO sensitivity level, increasing the setting for [NOISE REDUCTION] under

[PICTURE ADJUST], or lowering the setting for each of the items other than [NOISE REDUCTION]. (P137)

When the [DIRECT FOCUS AREA] (P90) is set to [ON], operation of the cursor button is assigned to movement of the AF area. In such a case, assign [SENSITIVITY] as a menu item in the Quick Menu (P58) and perform the operation.
