SHOOTING UNDER WATER

This camera can be used underwater up to a depth of 3 m (10 feet) for up to 60 minutes continuously. When shooting underwater, set the scene mode setting

to underwater . This setting ensures the best colors and audio recording for underwater photography (pages 51 and 84).

Before using your camera underwater, be sure to read the sections

“IMPORTANT: ABOUT THE WATERPROOF PERFORMANCE OF THE CAMERA” (page 11) and “MAINTENANCE AND WATERPROOF PERFORMANCE” (pages 12 to 19) in this manual, and to follow the instructions carefully. Incorrect use may cause water to leak into the camera and damage it.

Capturing the best colors and audio when shooting underwater (underwater mode)

1 Display Recording Menu 1 (page 48).

2 Select [SCENE MODE], and press the SET button.

3 Select the icon, and press the SET button.

4 Press the MENU button.

hThe Menu Screen is canceled.

hUse the underwater mode only when shooting underwater.

hWhen recording underwater, the sound of the camera's motor (a buzzing sound) is amplified. At the underwater mode setting, however, an audio filter works to reduce the sound of the motor (the sound quality is different from that when recorded in a scene mode other than the underwater mode).
